If you’re looking for space far from the crowds, where you can take in life at your pace, without distraction, then this spectacular 2,400-acre property on the Big Island of Hawai’i may be exactly what you’re looking for. Nowhere else in the Hawai'ian Islands will you find an intact ahupua’a available for your exclusive use. These historic swaths of land run from the mountains to the ocean and were once ruled by an appointed chief to serve the land which contains nearly every natural resource required for the community in the area to thrive.
Ten private cottages and a bunkhouse provide accommodations for as many as eighty guests albeit, during these trying times, occupancy is limited and requires a buyout of up to 20 guests. In the center of the accommodations, the dining hall, and chapel is an elegant lawn surrounded by turn of the century, pristinely renovated, buildings. These serve as the gathering and dining rooms offering numerous places to relax and enjoy your time together. Among them is a chapel which might serve as the scene of your nuptials. However, also on the property is a larger, historic church where you'll find the local community on Sundays.
The property offers a variety of intimate settings that have been landscaped, both naturally and by man, where you can roam, sit, or simply enjoy the outdoors in designated areas of the ahupua'a. Elevated events such as stargazing with the aid of astronomer’s wisdom and telescopes, forest bathing with a certified guide to lead you through this transformational experience in nature, and bespoke weddings. Nearby, hiking trails with a guide will intrigue any guest interested in learning the history of the stunning Kohala coast and its ties to King Kamehameha.
If you come to practice giving or learning, ownership has taken measures to inspire you whether it be through collaborative gatherings, sustainability-based leadership learning, or place-based education. This rich environment offers participation activity in fisheries, taro planting, and harvesting, traditional dance, and music; all lessons in regenerative travel. While some lessons can be taught, none will equal what you learn from the land itself. The reward of doing good will go beyond your lifted spirit, it will enhance the community, economy, and environment.
In the distance, you'll find the Pacific Ocean. Cows and horses will dot the landscape. Beach access isn't available; however, the beautiful sand beaches at the various resorts, Spencer beach park, and more throughout Kailua-Kona offer an array for your enjoyment.
Hawaii 456 is unique in these islands, sequestered from over-tourism and man-made noises. We hope you can come to see for yourself.
Note: All cottages have Twin beds which can be comfortably converted to a King bed.
What3Words divided the world into trillions of 3 x 3 meter squares and assigned each one a unique three word address. It’s far more accurate than the number and street name system. And it means everyone and everywhere now has an address. Click the link on the villa page to see the exact location of the property.
