5-Day Family Adventure Holiday
HAWAII, BIG ISLAND
Our carefully crafted family adventure holiday on Hawaii Island, otherwise known as the Big Island because it’s not only the largest of all the Hawaiian islands but it’s also bursting at the seams with exquisite experiences but has proved to be a big hit with families. Choosing from a stylish selection of Hawaiian luxury villas or resorts, we can advise on one that suits your family’s make-up and interests and get ready to discover the Hawaii you have always dreamed of. From private charter boat trips to see dolphins to volcano visiting, we have nature and culture covered - both in style and both inspiring.
Responsible tourism in Hawaii is at the heart of everything we do. For that reason, each of your Hawaii adventures supports an important local leader of conservation, cultural heritage or social responsibility on the islands.

DAY 1 & day 2
Arrival, check-in and relax
You will be met at Kona Airport and transferred to your chosen luxury accommodation. Enjoy the rest of your first day on Hawaii Island by slowing down, relaxing by the pool and adjusting to Hawaii time. Which, on our luxury holidays, translates as ‘taking all the time in the world’.
Private charter boat tour of Kealakekua Bay
In Hawaii, the ocean is one of the best ways to gain a real perspective of the natural beauty of our islands. On our private charter, you can motor or sail south to Kealakekua Bay with a skipper and marine biologist who not only guide you safely through our warm waters, but also through the history, geography and natural heritage of Hawaii. Whale watching in Hawaii is also a possibility between November and May, as these magnificent creatures also enjoy some time migrating through paradise.

DAY 3
CULTURAL OPTION
Visit Kohala Coast and Moʻokini Heiau
The north coast of Hawaii Island is another world, one where you are not only transported to other dramatic lava landscapes but also back in time. Just east of the traditional Hawaiian town of Hawi, on the green northern tip of the island, is Kapa’au, the birthplace of King Kamehameha, the first ruler of the Kingdom of Hawaii. Proudly standing in front of the Kapa’au Civic Center is the first of the many statues in the state to commemorate him and the start of today’s journey into history.
Your next step is much further back in time, visiting the temple ruins of Moʻokini Heiau and Kohala Historical Sites State Monument which dates back to 480 A.D. and is considered one of the island’s most important sacred sites. Look, but don't touch. We can arrange to have a guide meet with you during your visit if you want to delve deeper into local history.

DAY 3
Adventure OPTION
Hawaii horseback riding and ranch visit
If history isn’t going to tweak everyone’s interest on this family holiday, we can arrange a ranch visit where you can go horseback riding with a local paniolo, or cowboy, a tradition that goes back generations in Hawaii. You can combine this adventure with a trip to the historic town of Kapaau, stop just at the end of the road for a meal with epic ocean views, continue on to the nearby Pololū Valley, or Keokea State Park for an ocean-side picnic.
The kids might enjoy a privately led visit to seahorse or octopus research centers, while adults might enjoy a private and tasting of Kona’s famous coffee.
These visits support the Historic Hawaii Foundation

DAY 4
Visit Volcanoes National Park
Hawaii hiking and helicopter touring
Visiting Volcanoes National Park is a full-day outing and one of the most magnificent expeditions you will have in Hawaii. We recommend an early start for this one, and then a choice of transport methods, depending on your sense of adventure. We can arrange a helicopter ride over Kīlauea, one of the world's most active volcanoes, or a driver guide who will lead you on a road trip from Kona to the park. Having a driver means that you can sit back and relax, taking in the spectacular views along the park’s iconic Crater Rim Drive and Chain of Craters Road. If you enjoy a hike, we will arrange a trek with an expert guide at the park or a volcanologist to visit the lava tubes and other volcanic features.
During this day trip to Volcanoes National Park, you also have time for a visit en route to the park for lunch at a vanilla bean farm or tea plantation tour, and your guide will recommend stops off the beaten path and sites where you'll enjoy the exceptional views. There is no shortage of both in Hawaii.
Please note that we can also arrange helicopter and hiking tours to other volcanoes on Hawaii. In addition to Kīlauea, you can visit Mauna Loa, Mahukona, Mauna Kea, Hualalai, and Kohala.

DAY 5
DAY OF DEPARTURE
We always recommend one last trip to the beach to take home a scent of Hawaiian surf, salt and sand, with resolutions to come back again and explore more of our archipelago’s wonders.
